This is the last part of my Zeltweg Airpower 2011 report. If you have a chance, please do visit it, as it is one of the best airshows in the central Europe. Thanks for watching my photos and stay tuned for more (MAKS 2011 coming soon).
Airpower airshow at Zeltweg air base in Austria, has to be the biggest airshow in the Central Europe. I’ve been a regular visitor since 2003 and this year’s show was the best and biggest yet – almost 300.000 people attended the 2-day show and more than 15 million euro were earned. Talk about the economy
I will try to present some of the feeling in chronological order. I hope you’ll enjoy the pics!
Austrian AF Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter trio dropping Austrian flag coloured water.
Today, during the biannual Airpower airshow at Austrian AF base in Zeltweg, accident happened when simulating paratroopers assault. Paratroopers were jumping out of a low flying C-130K Hercules transport plane, when one of them hit the canopy of another and got stuck in its cord – the result was accelerated and uncontrolled fall which probably resulted in serious injuries (the one that I saw actually bounced up from the ground when hitting it). Unfortunately I don’t have any information on the fate of the two soldiers – after some 30mins, two Alouette III helicopters departed the base with guys on board. I pray injuries are not too serious.
Here’s the photo caption of the drama
