There are different ways to cool down on hot summer days. One, albeit quite hot in the process, is to climb some mountain – there’s always fresh at the top. Last weeks destination was Lake Krn – our biggest glacier lake in the high mountains at 1.394m of elevation.

Climb starts at the Klement Jug mountain cabin in the Lepena valley

Ascending the relative low slope of rocky mulatera is not that demanding.

A view of the Lepena valley somewhere in mid-climb

Rays of sun greeted us just before reaching the top of plateue.

April snow conditions of recent years – April 2009 was sure fun 😉

Some mountain flowers greeted us soon after departing mountain cabin towards the lake

While cows on the other hand didn’t pay much attention

Mountain paradise! Hard to think a bit less than 100 years ago, young soldiers were fighting in this magical place.

And finally the destination – Lake Krn!

Fish in the lake give you free peeling

And time to go home… till next time
