I was not able to make a lot of photos today, due to working commitments. Here a selection of few that I managed to snatch.

Multinational NATO exercise Adriatic Strike starts on Monday, 6th of June, it’s center being the Cerklje ob Krki airport, where I work. Friday was the main arrivals day. Check the gallery and the comments to the photos for more info.

Pilatus PC-21 at Axalp 2015

Pilatus PC-21 follows a long line of light advanced prop-driven trainer aircraft coming from this Swiss manufacturer. Swiss Air Force uses 8 of these modern aircraft. Powered by a 1.600shp version of PT6 engine and equipped with glass-cockpit, HOTAS and 0-0 ejection seats, it enables the new pilots to transfer to jet fighters without the need to train in jet trainers first. On practice day, PC-21 flew a few of the display routines.

The following photos were taken on Tuesday, October 6th 2015.

This year’s Airpower was unfortunately nothing spectacular – the list of participants is more or less the same each time but that shouldn’t distract all the true aviation lovers out there. Photography wise the conditions were moderate to awful, with most of the day, sun blocked by clouds, creating that weird lightning where all the colors look pale and grey aircraft blend with the cloudy background. The result is fewer photos than normal, and I rather enjoyed the show sitting and relaxing and enjoying the company of my friends! And it was great!

In the following days, I will try to show you some of the highlights that were captured with my Nikon in thematic posts.

Cerklje AB open day

Each year Slovenian Army celebrates its day (15th May) by opening doors of its barracks and bases. Military part of the Cerklje airfield is no exception. Based in SouthEastern part of Slovenia, this used to be Yugoslav AF base equipped with J-21 Jastreb and J-22 Orao jet attack planes in 1991. After the war, airfield was taken over by Slovenian Army and it became its main aviation base with just a small detachement based at Ljubljana International aerodrome. Today it is┬áhome to┬áAviation School equipped with Zlin 242L and 143┬álight aircraft and Bell 206 JetRanger┬áhelicopters.┬áAdvanced turboprop trainers/light attack aircraft Pilatus PC-9M “Swifts” are also based there. Other assests like Cougars, Porters, B412s and Turbolet also visit the base frequently.

As I was working that day, I only managed to take some of the aircraft pictures.

Pilatus PC-6 Turbo-Porter

The Pilatus PC-6 Porter is a single-engined Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) utility aircraft designed by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. First flown in 1959, the PC-6 has been built in both piston engine and turboprop powered versions, and has been built both by Pilatus and by Fairchild Hiller in the United States. It remains in production as of August 2011.
